#--------------------------------------------------------- # Disclaimer: # This work represents author's interpretation of Dan's song. # For private study or entertainment only #--------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------- You Got To Believe --------------------------- words and music by Dan Hicks ----------------------------- This is the best I could come up with, given my limited guitar skills. I've noticed from watching the tape of Dan on Austin City Limits a few years ago, Dan uses a few moveable chord shapes that he sticks to pretty regularly: A7 A7 A13 D7 e---5----x-----5------x------ b---5----5-----7------3------ g---6----6-----6------5------ d---5----5-----5------4------ a---x----x-----x------5------ e---5----5-----5------x------ Dan uses his thumb to hold down the low E sting and mute the A string. The A7 can be moved up 2 frets to become B7, down 1 to become Ab7,etc. The D7 can also be moved (+2=E7, +4=F#7) There are several place where D9, E9 could substituted for D7, E7 whatever sounds good to you. You might also want to experiment with muting the high E string on the A7 shape. The album is actually up half a step from these chords, so if you want to play in the same key as the album, you might want to capo the 1st fret, an open E string on a 6th postion chord sounds pretty nasty :-) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: words enclosed in () are the Lickettes parts....
